i. Local area network: (LAN)

v It covers small geographical area, signal room , Building, computers (set of buildings)
v When computer and terminals are located close by it is described as (LAN)
v Distance between two computers:
10m- 1km
v Data Transfer rate.
10 – 1000 Mbps.
ii. Metro politan area network (MAN)

v Covering a metropolitan area.

iii. Wide area net work : (WAN)
Wan network are the networks where the computers and terminals are connected of separate sites, cities countries.

v Covers a large geographical area.
Eg: country, continent.
